Saturday June 17th and Sunday the 18th went by so fast!!!! We ate a quick breakfast at the KOA in Spokane and then hit the road to drive 300 miles to my cousin Aimee and her husband Jona's place, they live just outside of Seattle! The drive was an easy one. Lot's of beautiful views of water, mountains, curvy roads and a lot less wind thankfully! We arrived just in time for Homemade GF veggie lasagna it was delicious!!!
DC immediately became best friends with their dog Alkaline, I also feel like Alkaline was very welcoming of DC too! It was super cool to see their instant bond! After dinner we got ready for bed as we were all feeling a bit tired from the transit. We also needed our rest because we had big plans for Sunday!
We woke up Sunday morning feeling refreshed and ready to explore Seattle, WA on Father's Day!!!! We all ate a quick bite at my cousins house then we loaded up and headed to Pike's Place Market. How to describe downtown Seattle- Amazing, Busy, Huge, lots of talented people and Labrinth like. We parked underground in a parking structure, took an elevator up to Pike's Market- that overlooked Elliot's Bay on Puget Sound. We walked on the main level down to Cinnamon Work's and bought GF goodies and regular goodies for the rest of the crew, then we watched a talented performer play his piano and sing! Jona said that guy has played there for years!! Then we continue walking/snacking towards Beecher's Rosemary and Olive oil homemade cheese curds- Y'all they were some of the best I've ever had! Then we waited in a line for Piroshky Piroshky- I now know and understand why their is a line...the lady who let's people in the door is a comedian. She had an interesting accent- almost Russian like which is fitting for this Compact Russian Bakery! She asked David if she could embarrass him, which he said sure- She then yelled "we have a FATHER walking in- join me in wishing him a happy father's day"! It was the sweetest most thoughtful thing to do!!! After we quickly ordered our food we went through this alley and sat down behind the building where we ate/conversed in a very nice area! After that we continued down the road towards "The throwing fish" Pike Place Fish Market where we got to see the workers throw actual fish over the counter! Kind of quirky but cool! DC also saw the golden pig and insisted we take of picture of him on it!!
We then walked down to Post Alley where we got to see the famous gum walls... probably the grossest thing there! We continued our walk to The Great Wheel of Seattle- It was super cool to get a different view from above! :) Then we continued to walk around that area and check out one of the Piers. It was cool that it had a little soccer field and drinking patio overlooking the bay! DC by this point was getting pretty tired and worn out so we decided to head back to my cousins home to freshen up for dinner at Trappers! We ordered extra tuna nigiri so DC could have an order as he loves sushi! We love that he enjoys all different types of foods! After a delicious dinner, we went back to my cousins place and we had gourmet (Reese/Hershey) smore's! They were delicious!!! :)
Although our time together was brief, it was a wonderful time seeing my cousin and her husband! Thanks again for hosting us!
