Wednesday, June 21st we left Sacramento around noon and stopped by a Costco to buy a few food things to bring with us to Coarsegold, CA. We arrived in the evening at my Auntie Kim and her wife Jerri's place just in time for a quick Costco Pizza dinner and bath time for the kids before we fell asleep. The next morning we had a nice relaxing morning before we headed to Yosemite National Park about an hour and a half drive from Coarsegold.
Yosemite National Park was beautiful!!! At first I was very sad at the large amount of burned down trees from all the Forest Fires that California has had over the past few years. Did you know that Yosemite has "prescribed" fires and they roughly burn down 16,000 acres a year. This helps with soil, it also helps keep the vegetation from quickly becoming overgrown.
After we got a ways into the park I realized it was a lot more beautiful than a bunch of burned down trees! The view just beyond the tunnel was especially breath taking!
We were unable to easily stop and pull over so we missed a lot of opportunities to take some really nice photos, good thing we want to go back and visit my Aunties again! :)
At a height of more than 2,425 ft Yosemite Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in North America.
