This year we stayed at a new beach house that we absolutely loved called, Jid Dee's. Not really sure what Jid Dee's really means, but we really got giddy at Jid Dee's when we pulled up to this BEAUTIFUL Beach house. It didn't matter if you were coming up to this house or going, the views are what sold us on this rental!
During our road trips we try to find cool new places to explore. On the way down to the beach, we found Washington Park in Winston Salem, North Carolina. It had a Dinosaur themed playground which was perfect for our boys, especially Daniel who loves Dinosaurs! What was really nice about this park is it was pretty secluded, so it wasn't busy at all. The amenities were nice too, including a covered pavilion that was being rented for a birthday party! This park had plenty of parking, making it easy for us to park our Sprinter van.
Right after we left this park and continued our travels to the beach, we found out my Husbands cousins Melinda and Beth were going to be nearby, so we met up with them in Isle of the Palms, SC for a quick get together and lunch at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen. It was really nice to be reconnected with Beth's parents Roger and Mary. The boys love Cousin Melinda!!!
David got the chance to try a new wide angle lens (for night photography) with a family photo at the beach house too!
2024 Carr Family Photo at Pawleys Island!
Every year my sister in law and I try to do something together for a fun sister hangout at the beach! This year we both decided we wanted a 1 hour massage, it was so incredibly nice and relaxing. Then we enjoyed a few more moments of relaxation on the beach! :)
Throughout the week, we would enjoy the ocean front view, from our back porch, which was nice because we didn't have to drive anywhere!
The Beach side deck had a ton of great places to sit and relax, while listening to the waves crashing on the shore. Definitely a nice place to sit and relax, especially because it was totally screened in, so
their were little concerns over the kids escaping!
This year we were totally spoiled by having a beach tent and chairs delivered and set up daily! It was a nice place to cool off but still sit out there for an hour or two.
We really like Pawleys Island Tavern for it's Dive Bar Vibes, good Food and live blue's music. Obviously it's a bit too loud for the younger kiddos so we opted to eat inside. We learned an important lesson, DO NOT GO THERE ON TUESDAY EVENINGS. But if you do... you'll likely wait 3+ hours! We thought, hey we will leave the beach house about 5:15, get there at 5:30, get seated around 6:00pm and have food by 6:30....Nope we were soooo wrong on timing, we finally got seated around 7:30pm we didn't get our food until 8:30pm....While waiting for our table inside we walked around the shops nearby and we happened to find an ice cream parlor. Papa was like let's get some ice-cream while we wait, which was great thinking, because i'm fairly certain had the kiddos not had icecream, we would have ended up needing to leave the restaurant, they were HUNGRY!! For as late as dinner was, the kiddos did excellent all things considered! It was a crazy late outing but still a fun one! Memories made and lessons learned! :)
Daniel celebrated his 2nd Birthday with family this year, down at Pawleys! It's so nice being able to celebrate with family, since we live so far away from them!
If y'all know my husband, you guys know he loves Photography! This year he captured some pretty cool things, a bird eating a small crab...or something like it! A fish midflight while jumping in the creek, lots of birds midflight, and waves curling over about to crash, he slowed the water down.... not really but with this photo magic, it looks like it is!
My husband David and I were able to break away and be kid-free for a few minutes on the beach together while Papa watched over them inside. It's so nice to spend just a few minutes alone together. Often times we both get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, so vacations are one way to occasionally break away from everything and relax! It gave us a chance to hold hands on the beach and even have a normal conversation without kids interrupting. We enjoyed letting the wind blow our hair and take silly selfies! 15 years together and we are still so in love! :)
That's a wrap for now, stay tuned for our next MI adventure blog!
